When 18-year-old Erin Bailey decided to put on a Pride festival for her senior project, she expected maybe 50 people would show up.
But she happens to share her hometown of Columbus, Indiana, with Vice President Mike Pence–a vocal opponent of LGBTQ rights–and her idea quickly blew up, becoming a symbol of resistance in a largely conservative region.
We followed Erin on the day of the festival, and met other members of the community who spent years making an event like this possible.
